YOU CAPTURE: COLOR

I definitely won't get the extra credit for finding color outdoors this week, but at least some of my shots are of things you might find outdoors . . . when it's much, much warmer.

I HEART FACES: TEXTURE

This week's theme at I Heart Faces is texture.  The old door in this photo was the perfect background for experimenting with texture.  I also like the "natural" texture of the old brick and the crumbling concrete under the door.  The adorable subject doesn't hurt either.

This week's theme was so much fun!  Be sure to check out the other beautiful textures over at I Heart Faces.

Project 365

Jan. 21: I've been dying to take some outdoor shots, but everything is so dull and gray right now.  So I decided to try for some indoor "nature" shots instead.

YOU CAPTURE: LOVE AROUND YOUR HOME

I was so excited about this week's You Capture Theme: Love Around Your Home. I could have taken hundreds of pictures. Many of the things I love around my home are reminders of the past. Old family photos . . . that cute little girl sitting in the window is my grandmother.

The atlas belonged to my grandfather.  He earned it selling Electrolux vacuums.  I love that my home is full of books, both old and new.

I love my husband's old globe.  He spotted it one Sunday in our church library.  He figured a library should have an up-to-date globe, so he bought a new globe for the library and traded it for this one.  Our best guess is that it was made sometime in the early 1930's.  Pretty cool for a guy who majored in geography.

I love that my kids decided to play the violin and the piano, instead of the trumpet or drums.  If only they would practice more often.

I love cooking in my kitchen, and the Kitchen Aid is one of my favorite appliances.  I don't usually love the toys that are left all over the house.  But I love that the mess is evidence of the three boys who live here.

Check out I Should Be Folding Laundry to see what everyone else loves around home.

I HEART FACES: WE ARE FAMILY

It's all about family this week at i heart faces.
As you can see, a certain (very cute) little member of this family was
not at all interested in posed family portraits.

Check out i heart faces this week for more creative family photos.

YOU CAPTURE: WINTER

This week's You Capture theme is Winter.  I think it's been a cold one just about everywhere. The cold never seems to bother the kids though . . .

and it's made for some beautiful, frosty mornings.

We've had plenty of snow.  Want some?  Seems like there's been snow on the ground for weeks. I'm ready for some longer, warmer days.

Check out all the other winter photos over at I Should Be Folding Laundry.

I HEART FACES: BEST FACE PHOTO

This week's theme at i heart faces is "Best Face Photo."  The photo has to be one taken this month or last, and I immediately thought of the pictures I took for my good friend last week.  Her three children are grown and living in different parts of the world and she finally had them all together over the holidays!  She wasn't sure when that was going to happen again, so she asked me to take some photos. This is her beautiful daughter.

Be sure to check out everyone else's favorite faces over at i heart faces this week.

How could this possibly be terrible . . .
